Variations on Sherlock’s theme
So I did some playing around with Sherlock’s and John’s theme. I’d be glad about comments and critique!

Thank you! Your compliments mean really much to me ♥ It did take me some time to word it all out and arrange it to my satisfaction.
I’ve reblogged this before but the more I listen to it the more perfect it is. It just displays so so perfectly how amazing every aspect of this show is. In regards to the dynamic between Sherlock and John you have the fast-paced quirky irreverent song for Sherlock and his thought processes. The relentless tinkle of the notes swirls around and just makes you grin. Because ahha! This man is on to something and we won’t be able to keep up. And he doesn’t particularly care if anyone’s following. Here we have it juxtaposed beautifully with John’s theme which is softer, slower, more mournful. The tune is one of introspection, empathy, and sadness. John’s theme is a direct contrast to Sherlock’s. Sherlock’s is always going. It’s not exactly care-free—that implies a happy-go-lucky kind of demeanor—but it doesn’t care. John’s is full, and heavy, and stays grounded. It has a sadness inherent in it that just pulls at your heart. The contrast even in their themes is a perfect representation of their relationship. Sherlock brings out John and makes him forget his sadness. John keeps Sherlock human and forces him to remember that people have feelings. Together they make the most wonderful whole.
So basically—this is gorgeous. Listen to it.

Victorian tear catchers. They’re usually used by a widowed bride. Upon the day of the funeral, the widow would collect her tears into this small vial, and all the tears she cried in the first year over the loss of her husband, she would capture in this vial she would wear upon her neck. And on the anniversary of his death, she pours the preserved tears atop his gravesite. It’s beautiful, tragic, and prolongs the suffering for ritualistic purposes. However, it’s quite poetic. If I were ever to loose someone close to me, I would do this.
